Guidelines
- You will be working in pairs and one group of three.
- Each group will choose a computer Hardware part and perform some research about it. Talk to your teacher about your theme to make sure you are covering all the specific topics.
- You are becoming an expert on that topic. Make sure to do enough background research so you can answer questions from the teacher and your colleague.
- You must write down your findings and elaborate a document around 700 words. Think that you should cover many aspects like, technology they use, technical characteristics, forms and options, prices… include a short view about the evolution, from the first devices to the newest ones.
- Then you will have to prepare a multimedia presentation using PowerPoint 365 online version. Share the presentation with the rest of your group, this way the whole group can work together easier and quicker. You can also share it with your teacher to get some feedback along the way.
- Before the deadline you must submit through the Moodle platform the PDF document and the public link (anyone view-access only) to your multimedia presentation.
- The presentation should have around 12 slides, depending on how much you are going to speak in each of them.
- In class you will present to the rest of the class your research. You must use the multimedia presentation to help you. The presentation should last between 10-15 minutes. Every member of the group must speak, so make sure you divide your work and do not step on each other’s.
- The other groups and the teacher will make questions for about 5 minutes.
Tips for creating a professional presentation
- Tips on designing your slides:
o
Use
consistent and simple backgrounds, fonts, and colours.
o
Choose
colors that make reading easy.
o
Be
consistent with the types of fonts and colors you use.
o
Limit
the number of words you use, use key phrases. Avoid long texts, again, keep
text to a minimum. You want the audience to pay attention to you, not to be
reading.
o
Vary
your presentation by using bulleted lists, tables, columns, and
appropriate figures and images.
o
Prove
that you know how to use all kind of resources when useful.
o
Include
animations, transitions and even sounds, but again, not too many.
- Practice as a group before the day of your presentation. (We will allocate some time at class so Abby can help you)
- Make sure your presentation has no typos.
- When delivering the presentation in class, make sure you speak loud and clear, take your time, do not just read and make eye contact with the audience and limit the use of needless words (um, uh, hm, etc.).
